What is Literally?
Literally is an online book club. You keep a shelf of what you read, talk about books with other readers and find your next one through the people and genres you trust.
What is the Spoiler Shield?
Every post is tagged with how far into the book it goes. If you have not read that far yet, the post stays blurred until you update your progress. If you would rather read without it, you can turn it off in Settings.
How do reading streaks work?
A streak counts weeks, not days, because we know life is busy and some reading is better than none. Any week from Monday to Sunday in which you add a book to Reading, update your progress or finish a book counts, so you never need to read every day. Adding a book to Want to read, giving up on a book and importing a library do not count. If you miss a week your streak starts again from one the next time you read, and your longest streak stays on your profile. On Saturday we send a reminder if your streak is waiting on a week; you can turn it off in Settings.
How do ratings work?
You rate each book from 1 to 10. Five is a good book, one is the worst you have read and ten is the greatest.
Can I start a book club with my friends?
Yes. You can start a private club, invite friends by name or with a share link that lasts 14 days or until the club is full, and choose each book together. Literally can also place you in a club with other readers who like what you like; matching is for adults, so it needs a date of birth on your profile.
Can I bring my books from another app?
Yes. Import a list from a file and your books arrive on your shelves.
When is the app coming out?
Join the waitlist and we will email you when Literally is ready for you.
How much does it cost?
Free to use.
What happened to the website?
Literally lives in our app now. This website tells you about it and lets you join the waitlist, but you cannot use Literally in a browser.
What will you use my email address for?
To tell you when the app is ready. If you tick the extra box, we may also send occasional news and updates that are not about the launch; leave it unticked and we will not. We send one message to confirm your address, and if you do not confirm it we delete it within seven days. You can leave the waitlist at any time from the link in that email.
How do I delete my data?
In the app, go to Settings. You can also email privacy@literallyapp.com and we will help.
